Check it out! Stunning Polymer Clay Earrings
On the Craft Table

Check out these absolutely stunning polymer clay earrings inspired by the colors of one of my most beloved seasons: Spring! All the earrings in this collection look alike because they’re made from a slab using bright bold colors like fuchsia and a green. You know the bright green color of the tiny new buds on the trees in Spring? So beautiful.

What’s a Slab?

Slabs are so fun to design! Think of a slab as a blank canvas to which different colors of paint and textures are added. I purposely didn’t have a plan. I have a lot of regimented structure in my life at home and at work, so when creating, I simply love to play. Isn’t this pretty pale pink clay gorgeous? It acts as a neutral and plays well with so many other colors. Using my pasta roller, I conditioned and flattened out a nice size piece of the pink clay to serve as my “canvas”. Next is the fun part.

Creativity is Play

Making slabs allows for so much creativity and play. You know my creative philosophy…you don’t have to be a “creative person” to make something beautiful. Just play! Humans are creative beings by nature. Not only does it get you using your imagination, it allows you to experiment with various tools and materials. For example, I was able to use my new clay extruder! Oh my goodness. Check out the video below to find out what that does. It’s pretty dang satisfying. I then added in some turquoise blue rectangles, little gold blobs for sparkle, tiny magenta flowers, and some bold black and white stripes for contrast.

Save Your Leftover Clay

The stripes were left over from a previous slab project. Making stripes can be a little bit challenging for first timers, but it’s so worth it. Personally, I learned so much by giving it a try. Whenever I have leftover clay from a project, I save it! Did you know that polymer clay never dries out? As long as you store it in a container, it won’t lose its flexibility.

Process Video

Since starting to make earrings from polymer clay, I’ve wanted to make a process video from start to finish. Well, I finally did it! Check out the video below to see hours worth of work in just under three minutes. Enjoy!
