How To Make Vintage Fabric & Button Rosettes

My sister Tracy holds Craft Nights at her home every now and again for some lady friends.  These beauties were a project using scraps of fabric left over from other projects.  Any sewer will tell you they have a stash of scraps just waiting for that special project to be used up.

The rosettes are made by twisting and winding vintage strips of fabric and attaching them in a swirl pattern to a round of felt using hot glue.  Add a cute vintage button to the center and voila!  You have an adorable way to showcase your stash of favorite vintage fabrics and buttons.

Some ladies attached theirs to headbands, others to barrettes and pins like these from Amazon.  You could also re-use headbands and barrettes that you already have to breathe some new life into them.  I, myself, have plain ones I never wear.  They’d probably get a lot more use if they looked this colorful!  These rosettes would make some adorable embellishments for pillows.

Here’s a link to a wonderful video tutorial by a woman named Erin Bassett.  We used hot glue for our Craft Night but she uses fabric glue so you can wash it if you happen to put it on a garment.

As Always, Stay Cozy!
